It is a tale of the people the flutemaker met and the fascinating stories they told. It is also a stroy about bumping into God.

Erik, reading about your life as a teen in NYC brings it all back to me! Wendy Van B., Bobby Bestard, St John the Divine... Carola taught me Spanish to get me through h.s. and remember the rings she made? with glass marbles? It is so vivid reading that part of your book.... and then of course later with Ruthie... I met Erik after visiting his website seeking for information about ethnic flutes. I had the opportunity to exchange some emails with him directly, and I ended up ordering a custom flute, in which he is working. Erik is a musician and flute maker of exceptional expertise, but his best quality is its Christian character. He is the organizer of a fantastic charity in Nicaragua aimed at children. I became a fan of Erik and reading "Bumping into God" is both fun, enjoyable and uplifting. A highly recommended book!

What a lovely book. The book is written in the style of what Erik has shared with his life. self-effacing, open and provocative in the most wonderful ways. Like his music, Erik will give you something in the book worth remembering.
As I started to read Erik's book, I was thinking that many folks might not like his style of writing. The story flows very much in a stream of consciousness, thoughts and memories appear before you. Many will find this somewhat disjointed as they prefer something smoother in thought. Yet, when one reads on they will begin to see a scarlet thread carefully woven throughout his story. Stay with it!
If you have had opportunity to view some of his videos, you will understand his writing, you will see the personality, the humor and the heart of the man as he searches for the true meaning and direction in life. His search for love as it can only be found in Jesus.
At times while reading, I found myself thinking loudly.. "Erik!!! What are you blind!?!?! Jesus is calling you!! Can't you see it!?!?!" But that is exactly what Erik has shown in his life's journey. Erik was blind, but NOW he can see! He does not gloss over his faults, his pain and the hurt he caused others. He has shown a man in need of the true healer!
Sure this book might not be some folks cup of tea, but it is well written, has good English (that's an English joke) makes you think, and touches your heart. You get to know this man, love this man, and love his mission! Most of all it provides a clear path to the true music maker, Jesus Christ.
I have recently picked up the Native American flute years after I set my saxophone down. I have been seeking something to take with me as I travel the world for work, keeping me company and expressing a prayerful heart though music. I have spent hours upon hours upon Erik's web site watching video's listening to his flutes, laughing and crying. Seeing this man reveal his heart, his love for the Lord...
As I get a handle on my own sparrow-hawk flute from Odell Borg, I plan soon to purchase a flute from Erik, as I desire to support his ministry. Perhaps one day in my travels I can meet this man of God face-to-face and pray with him and listen in the grove.

I would have like to have seen larger resolution photos, so when I clicked to zoom I could see more details. I hesitate dinging stars for it, but I need to be true to all of my previous book reviews. eBooks allow you to have larger images/ resolution contained, take advantage of it. So I should ding 1/2 star for the image size on zoom.
